My Creative Cooking Discovery: Lemon and Poppy Seed Muffins. 

I have decided it is time for me to start creating my very own food photography. By this I mean; Cook. Bake. Style. Shoot. The whole operation. From start to finish.

So the entire dish is my very own creation.

I am calling this my ‘Creative Cooking Discovery’ because …

(Are you ready for the full truth and nothing but the truth?)

… I cannot bake or cook to save my life.

I am a cooking and baking fiasco.

Once I tried to blend soup by whisking it. (I didn’t even realise I had done anything wrong until my husband came home and asked me why the whisk was out.)

Another time I was blending broccoli (to make broccoli couscous obviously) by pushing it down with a wooden spoon – WHILE the blender was still going. This did add a dynamic wooden flavour and great crunch from the wooden chips.

The latest was completely burning granola and almost setting the kitchen on fire (thanks Jane Staunton for the recipe and attempt at helping me!)

The recipe said 350 degrees for 1 hour. FAHRENHEIT Shannon!!! Not Celsius.

But despite all my cooking and baking disasters over the years I have decided I need to improve, or at least TRY.

So far, so good.

I baked the Lemon and poppy seed muffins AND they didn’t burn AND they looked amazing AND they tasted delicious too!

Ha. Result! I did it!! (*She says leaping with joy and sticking her tongue out!)
